Amsterdam, 9 October 2025 LIVEKINDLY Collective has responded to the European Parliament’s vote in favor of restricting the use of traditional “meaty” terms (such as burger, sausage, or hamburger) for plant-based products.
“While we find the outcome of the vote disappointing, our mission remains to make delicious, sustainable plant-based proteins readily available and easy for consumers to use and enjoy,” said David Suarez, CEO of LIVEKINDLY Collective. “The world urgently needs to move toward more sustainable diets to ensure food security for future generations. Familiar product names help consumers understand how to cook and enjoy plant-based foods and drive the adoption of climate-friendly diet choices.”
For now, the outcome of the vote does not require immediate changes. LIVEKINDLY Collective continues to assess the legislative process and its potential impact across European markets.
“If the regulation comes into force, we will, of course, comply. We have prepared for several scenarios and will work closely with our retail partners to ensure smooth transitions if name changes are required. Our focus remains on supporting consumers in making easy, tasty and sustainable protein and food choices, whatever they are called” David concluded.
LIVEKINDLY Collective will continue to collaborate and support the industry to advocate for a future where plant-based foods are accessible and a norm across Europe and further afield.
